PURPOSE: The Kent Group was formed to create an opportunity for people to come together and share information and ideas, while building strong community relationships, economic power, and political strength.
ROOTS: It was an outgrowth of Committee to Elect William Hall as Alderman – City of Frederick. The first planning meeting was held on May 15, 1999 at the Hampton Inn in Frederick.
GOALS: The group’s original goals included economic empowerment through networking (business, political and social), upward mobility (scholarship, training), political and community involvement, and entrepreneurship.
MEANING: Knowledge, Entrepreneurship, Networking, Together.

Promote African-American businesses and networking in order to impact economic growth in our community
Expand Kent Group membership and assets as a way to increase African- American unity, power and impact
